"When people look at my pictures I want them to feel
the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.”

How to dress at a photo shoot?

I never get tired of repeating that clothes play a very important role in my photos. If you have looked around my website, you may have already noticed that the clothes in my pictures are not random. Details - clothing, location, light - all together form a whole. And clothing is the keyword around which we start to build everything else.

The location of the photo shoot, the lighting and all other photographic nuances are for me to notice as a photographer, but the choice of clothing is something that you can control and design. :) Don't underestimate the importance of clothing. Take time to think it through, because the result depends on it.

Not all clothes are a good choice for a photo session, so I'm happy to help you in advance. By sharing your thoughts and creating a vision together, we will create a beautiful whole that you can enjoy for a long time in the form of a photo. Choosing the right outfit can often be quite a headache. Here you will find some tips to help you look better at a photo shoot.

Are you interested in taking pictures in the forest, beach, park, city or in the studio instead? Would you like to shoot in summer, autumn or winter? These are things that are usually thought of before booking a session. It's spring and you want to take pictures in the park in the colors of different flowers. On the beach in the summer in a bright beach dress or on a snowy forest road in the winter.

Even if you don't know the exact location yet, you could still imagine a park in the springtime, a summertime pine forest, a sandy beach or a snowy forest path. If you know what time of year and where we would take pictures, it also helps to plan the choice of clothing, because one  rule always applies  - always prefer those shades of color that will occur in nature, which you will see around you during our photo shoot. Can you picture it yourself now? :)  Nature gives us many hints. Natural, soft and light colored shades are the ones you can never go wrong with.

Now you already know where and when our session will take place. You have realized that you should prefer shades that occur around you in the nature. But there is still too many options?

Next ask yourself the question - "What kind of pictures would I like to see?"

It would be better to let go of the way of thinking "We are going to get our pictures taken and we have to make ourselves look beautiful."  Yes, there is a basis for this in certain sessions, but it is definitely not a rule to choose your outfit by. As a photographer I love to take pictures in nature and therefore prefer a more comfortable style. Feel good in your clothes - above all, good and comfortable. It would be good if your chosen outfit would allow us to be creative during the photo session - so you could sit on a deck, on a rock or even climb a tree. If you wouldn't go for a walk in the forest wearing a dress, stockings and party shoes, then you definitely don't need to wear them for a photo shoot. The simpler the outfit, the better. :)

Some recommendations that always apply:

- Prefer clothes that are not multicolour but rather on one shade.

- Prefer neutral and soft colors found in nature.

- In the summer, prefer linen, cotton and knitwear.

- In winter, all wool, knitwear, scarves, mittens and beanies.

- Put on a sweater instead of a jacket.

- Timeless white is always beautiful.

Advice on what NOT to wear to a photo shoot:

- Clothing items with pictures, logos, letters.

- Clothing items with large and colorful patterns.

- Clothing items that are neon in color.

- Shiny or plastic items of clothing.

- Contrasting colors.

- Color black.

If you come to take pictures with your family or a group, please coordinate your clothing style.

All of the above advice applies to nature and outdoor photography. When shooting in a studio, there are other possibilities and needs, but it is worth remembering the same keywords - what is our surroundings or interior like during the shoot? Your choice of clothes should reflect the same tones, not strong contrasts. When choosing a studio, you can already get an idea of the environment in which we will be shooting from the sample pictures  - take this as a basis for choosing your outfit.

Also - I may help you with childrens knits if you would like. I have a collection to offer from. See the video below. :)

And if there are questions, I'm always there.

Feel free to ask and I will be happy to help you plan your outfit.

My goal is the same as yours - to get beautiful photos. :)

See you at the session
